How To Survive as a C-Class Guide Chapter 6

Yeah, a little bit of research was enough. A day may be a short time to investigate someone or a long time. Eclipse could easily have done my own research.

"Did you do a background check?"

"I didn't."

"You know everything."

"What?"

However, this is not a matter of course. It's a private area that I don't like being in touch with people.

On the face of it, I think I know it all, but Carlyx pretended not to know.

On Eclipse's side, it would not be a pleasant thing to say that the guide hates contact. I decided to speak comfortably in a situation that has been exposed anyway.

"When I guide you, you want to cut off your tongue. You know that, right?”

"This is too provocative. We haven't even started yet. Are you thinking about shuffling your tongue first?”

"Don't change the subject. I'm a C-class and I have a plan as a guide, why do you want to take me?”

"I told you, I like it. I need you."

Until when you're going to play pranks. My fever is starting to rise. He tried to shake other people's lives, but he acted like a child who was trying to get toys on display at the mart. Without any sign of seriousness.

"You know the SS-class guide who cares about you, whether it breaks or wears out when you look at you. Aren't I going to play with your sex drive and throw it away?"

I lost my mind for a moment and poured it out. Then, whatever I said, Carlyx, who smiled leisurely, wiped the smile off his face.

Originally, I thought it looked soft because it was a good impression, but it was my illusion. Carlyx, who didn't laugh, was like a well-grained blade.

Then I heard the door rattling open. It was the head of the division who broke the flow of the upheaval.

"I don't think it's working out. There was a loud noise."

"What's going on?"

Carlyx managed to keep a straight face but still looked upset. Even a simple word given to the head of the headquarters stood on the edge.

"Roen is still in the center, so I was wondering if I could help her.”

"Well, that's cooperative. When I saw you a while ago, you looked like you couldn't do anything.”

Carlyx openly ignored the commanding officer. She didn't hit back, only loudly, pretending not to know.

He took his eyes off the chief and looked sharply at me again.

"Let's wrap up what we just talked about. Roen has a misunderstanding. I need a guide who can guide me, not a dog.”

"That's what they all say and take him away.”

"Do I look hungry enough to do that?"

Disillusionment flashed through his expression at the moment.

Carlyx did say that in sufficient insult if he didn't really do that. I was a little overwhelmed by the sudden change in the cool atmosphere.

"I'm thinking about five years. I promise, I'll make you work as a guide."

"How do you believe that?”

"I don't ask for level two. There's absolutely nothing in Eclipse that concerns Roen."

He said as if to affirm it. It wasn't a bad condition if Carlix's words were true.

Working at the center, I had to guide a lot of unfamiliar Esper's every day. In emergency situations, they implicitly demanded up to three levels. Although, of course, I never accepted it.

I nevertheless did not readily respond. Rumors about Eclipse still hung, and the reason Carlyx wanted to take me was because it wasn't convincing.

I don't need additional guidance because I have an SS-class guide, but what are they trying to take me for?

As my concerns grew longer, Carlix suggested a way.

"Shall we write a contract?”

"Shouldn't the contract be terminated?"

"Do you want me to make it impossible to destroy it?”

"Which one?"

There was no word for a while whether Carlix threw it without thinking about specific conditions. I couldn't help but wonder why he's going so far.

"What about this?”

The head of the headquarters, who was watching us quietly, raised his voice. Carlix looked at the head of the department as if he wanted to hear what he had to say.

"If the contract is not followed, Eclipse will return Guide Roen to the center.”

"With that...…I don't think it's too meritless."

I thought I'd say something great, but it was a relatively light clause. If you get tired of playing with it, you can just send it out.

"If so, how about this. When Roen is released from Eclipse, the center also releases Roen as a guide."

At the words of the head of the headquarters, my whole body was stiff. Those with abilities had to remain stranded in the centre until they died unless they were forced to fall into an outside group.

She meant that as a guide, she could live in it like an ordinary person without losing her ability. Just as normal as I was before I became a capable man with the incident.

"What do you think? I think it's an exceptional condition. There has never been a case like this. What awakeners must die at the gate. You don't know, do you?”

It was a tempting suggestion. To put it bluntly, it was very good. I can't believe I can live without guiding.

I was blinded by the hope that I could live a normal life. For me, this was an opportunity.

"That's not enough."

"What?"

And it occurred to me that a deal would be more possible because the centre was being overly cooperative with Eclipse.

"If you work for Eclipse for five years, please release it from the organization and from the center."

"That's...!"

"If it's not, I won't go. There are no further negotiations."

Deep in the forest, this space was the only place where the flow of time seemed to have stopped, but rather a large, old castle rose.

Vine plants were long mounted on the wall, and cracks and fragments were visible. The environment, where traces of time are clearly revealed, gave off a gloomy atmosphere rather than quiet.

Did I come to the right place? The driver asked me again if I should go here.

The red sunset made me feel more desolate as the sun went down on the way. I approached slowly and stood at the door which was bigger than my height.

I tried to look inside, but I couldn't see anything because it was tightly closed. When I tried to turn around because I felt like I had come to the wrong ruins, the door opened with an old iron noise.

I hesitated and plucked up the courage to push the door slightly. There was a man in there who greeted me.

"Hello, Roen. Welcome to the Eclipse."

"Hello."

"My name is Handel, the butler of this castle."

It was a middle-aged woman who matched well with an antique but old castle. A butler, not a housekeeper in this day and age. It was an awkward word, but I felt like I needed it more than anyone else.

Seeing her undiminished beauty reminded me of how beautiful she was in her youth. His head bowed on its own with a stiff blouse and a straight posture.

You're so charismatic. I'm not the type to be discouraged anywhere.

"I'll show you to your room."

Handel took the lead when he finished talking. Surprisingly, the castle was well-organized, unlike its appearance. It was very dark in the hallway with some candles lit up.

Nevertheless, she carried a lamp and walked smoothly with her long legs. As I gasped a little out of breath, Handel finally stopped walking.

"This is the room where you will stay."

This is my room? I can't believe I have to go up and down the fifth floor without an elevator.

I was going to ask Handel, who opens the door and beckons leisurely, to change rooms first.

"I'll be back when dinner is ready. Have a good rest."

"Location of that room...…”

Click.

The door closed while I was talking. Maybe you didn't hear that.

I turned around and looked around the room with a sheepish look on my face.

It was not a big or small space to live alone. The first thing I noticed was a fluffy-looking bed. I lay on the bed and enjoyed the comfort.

The cozy smell and orange lights spread softly, so it was calm everywhere. It was refreshing to be in the city center and come into such a deep mountain.

This calm atmosphere gave me comfort, but I couldn't relax. All the way here, I saw only Handel in this big castle.

This was the home of the Eclipse. No matter what happened here, there was no way to know if I was dead or alive.

I took a small frame out of the carrier and put it on the bedside shelf. Mom, dad, and sister. I had an awkward but happy smile in between.

"I'll be all right, right?"

Handel came along with a light knock when I was getting bored after unpacking. Without any other conversation, I was following her to the third floor.

When I arrived at the third floor, I heard a human sound from afar. I was glad to hear someone else besides Handel. It would have been such an uncomfortable time that if you had a meal with this woman alone, you wouldn't know if Bob was going into your throat.

"Guide Roen has arrived."

When I opened the door, my eyes were frowned at by the bright lights. When I blinked and opened my eyes again, familiar faces were sitting at the table under the colorful chandelier.
